Economically disadvantaged young people who have high levels of arts engagement and arts learning experiences are more likely than their peers to succeed academically and become more active and engaged citizens. As a program of Partners in Education, ArtWorks provides a bridge to local community arts experiences for public school students and teachers by partnering with Santa Fe’s cultural and arts institutions. The goal of ArtWorks is to make the arts personally meaningful for students and teachers. We accomplish this by pairing professional Teaching Artists with local arts institutions and public school classrooms

Resolve
Santa Fe, New Mexico / $10,000

Resolve’s mission is to prevent violence by building skills and inspiring individuals to be agents of personal, community, and cultural change. By reducing the fear and impact of violence, we help to create a community where people live powerfully, experience freedom, and pursue joy. While the area has quality agencies that assist survivors of violence, Resolve is the only organization that focuses on concrete and effective preventative skills. Resolve’s evidence-based programs will reduce incidents of violence and help individuals and communities heal from the effects of past violence. Prevention and early intervention are key.

Pueblo of Pojoaque
Santa Fe, New Mexico / $10,000

The Poeh Cultural Center has offered traditional arts classes since its inception. Classes offered include jewellery, pottery, weaving, sewing, moccasin making, and embroidery. Each year, six classes are selected for the 10-week Fall and Spring sessions. Instructors are assigned to the classes, which are promoted, with students enrolling, and classes begin. Every two years, the Poeh also mounts an exhibition featuring the creative Poeh Arts students. Whether through classrooms or exhibitions, students learn that they are intercultural ambassadors who inform visitors about Native American history, intertwined with United States history.

Santa Fe Dreamers

Established in 2014, Santa Fe Dreamers Project is a leading nonprofit organization providing expert immigration legal services to undocumented immigrants and their families. With offices in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, our work spans the state of New Mexico and extends along the southern US/Mexico border. Our practice encompasses diverse areas of immigration law, including DACA, Green Cards, Naturalization, Asylum, and humanitarian visas for survivors of violence. In the coming year, SFDP will host 100 in-person legal clinics, including 8 rural clinics, and provide legal consultations to 500 individuals.

Santa Fe Watershed Association (SFWA)

The Santa Fe River watershed provides the cleanest, cheapest, most reliable water not only for the City of Santa Fe, but for traditional communities downstream, unique ecosystems, and wildlife. The pressures of climate change, population growth and land conversion, as well as impending restructuring of federal regulations, present an urgent need for grassroots leadership to bring diverse stakeholders together. The SFWA has a 27-year reputation as the only entity that speaks for the entire Santa Fe River watershed as a holistic system, working to build a resilient watershed community by bridging the diverse ideologies, geographies, and ecologies.

Quivira Coalition

Working lands constitute one of our best tools for maintaining healthy watersheds, fostering biodiversity, and sequestering carbon. Through education, innovation, and collaboration, Quivira works in coalition with ranchers, farmers, government agencies, Tribal entities, and land stewards to foster resilience on dry working lands. We conduct this work at the Radical Center – an ideological space that welcomes a diversity of experiences in order to manage western landscapes in a way that works for all of us. Based in Santa Fe, our operations take place on working lands across New Mexico and the intermountain West

Southwest Educational Partners for Training (SWEPT)

SWEPT has redesigned adult education and pre-occupational job training in New Mexico to connect underemployed residents to employers for certified jobs in the high-need work sectors of K-12 Education, Behavioral Health, Information Technologies, and the construction trades. SWEPT and its partners aim to establish a network of organizations that will assist clients in achieving success. This will also help to identify service gaps and avoid duplication of resources within the community while increasing partner capacity, allowing them to spend more of their valuable resources, time, and money to achieve their mission.
