Memory Care Alliance

Education, support, care navigation and advocacy are desperately needed in the rural and Native American communities. Creating an efficient way to track cognitive testing will allow clinicians to identify cognitive decline early on. The Memory Care Alliance’s goal is to increase its capacity to serve those families living with Alzheimer’s or any other dementia related illness. Our project has also expanded to adapt the program to different cultures and languages in New Mexico, which will involve translating our materials and making them culturally appropriate.

Resolve
Santa Fe, New Mexico / $10,000

Resolve’s mission is to prevent violence by building skills and inspiring individuals to be agents of personal, community and cultural change. Since 2001, Resolve has taught violence prevention skills to children, teens, adults, and the elderly in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Northern New Mexico. Resolve reaches individuals and communities through partnerships with schools, nonprofits, community groups and Pueblos, as well as classes for the public. Resolve’s evidence-based programs will reduce incidents of violence and help individuals and communities heal from the effects of past violence.

Interfaith Community Shelter Group

The Interfaith Community Shelter is often referred to as a de-facto mental health facility in Santa Fe. There is not a day that goes by when one or more of employees are working with our guests in a trauma-informed manner to help them through a crisis brought on by significant trauma - whether it be the trauma of homelessness itself, adverse childhood experiences, or brought on by mental illness and subsequent self-medication with harmful substances.

Partners in Education Foundation

Despite the wealth of cultural and arts resources in our community, most Santa Fe Public School students experience a stark disconnect from the extensive arts and cultural offerings in Santa Fe, and many have never been to a museum or a live arts performance. Students in the Santa Fe Public Schools come from all walks of life, but the majority of students are from lower-income, higher-need households. The goal of ArtWorks is to make the arts personally meaningful to children and teachers through a process-oriented, integrated program of art-making, experiencing live performances and museum exhibits.

Kindred Spirits Animal Sanctuary

Each year many elderly dogs, horses and other animals are abandoned in New Mexico. The public and private shelters struggle to place and care for the more than 135,000 animals received each year. KSAS is helping change the social and cultural attitudes toward aging companion animals. In addition to offering a safe and healthy environment for senior dogs, horses and poultry on site, KSAS has developed a model for animal eldercare for shelters and offers educational programs to increase pet guardian’s knowledge of the complete and natural life cycle and aging process for animals.

Each year, we screen a variety of films that provide representation of diverse voices. SFFI promotes representation of women directors, with over half the festival program’s films being created by women-identifying filmmakers. SFFI’s goals and objectives include exhibiting world-class cinema in the heart of downtown Santa Fe, supporting local filmmakers and students, attracting movie-goers to join the fest, discussions, filmmaker Q&A sessions, industry panels, workshops, and networking events.
