The goal of NWF’s work in Louisiana is to build broad and sustained public support for science-based and equitable coastal restoration in the Mississippi River Delta and southern Louisiana. Coastal outreach and engagement efforts are vital for building active champions through impactful and engaging learning opportunities, particularly expert-led field tours that empower key stakeholders with first-hand, compelling experiences on the coast. Giving people the opportunity to see our coast is a uniquely powerful experience, inspiring the advocates we need to tackle the immense challenges facing our coast and communities.

Today, more than ever, it is crucial that our young people develop an understanding, appreciation, and respect for our natural resources. There are many species living in our Zoo whose existence in the wild depends on it. The Baton Rouge Zoo is going to add a new habitat for our Australian bird species, which include cockatoos, crowned pigeons, parrots and kookaburras. These birds help to educate our visitors on their species and habitats. Some have served in our education program for the schools, bringing children the opportunity to learn about conservation, natural habitats, and ecosystems.

The Louisiana chapter of TNC was established in 1987 and is 36 years old. In that time, we have established 21 preserves on over 29,000 acres of land, and have protected over 300,000 acres across the state. TNC is proposing work that will advance longleaf pine restoration efforts in Louisiana through outreach education, enrolling private landowners in federal programs focused on restoring longleaf pine, and by coordinating on-the-ground conservation efforts across public, private, and TNC-owned land.
Eden Centers for Hope and Healing

Eden Centers for Hope and Healing (ECHH), founded in 2011, is a movement to eradicate the trafficking and selling of human beings. We create systemic change through prevention education, legislative advocacy, recovery and reentry services, and emergency and long term shelter for survivors of human trafficking. ECHH expanded its capacity from one to two residences and an emergency center that is providing emergency housing, crisis management, and referral services. Annually, we have the capacity to offer 9,125 safe nights to adult, female-identifying survivors of human trafficking.
