The Food Depot

The Food Depot is celebrating a very successful first year for Casita de Comida in Espanola, a no-cost customer choice grocery store. This unique and dignifying shopping experience offers abundant varieties of culturally appropriate fruits, vegetables, and frozen protein to hundreds of clients in Rio Arriba County, where 13.3 per cent of the population is food insecure. Casita de Comida currently serves 288 households per month. In 2024, the Food Depot hopes to add at least one more monthly distribution, which would extend this service to 96 more households per month.

Mariachi Spectacular de Albuquerque

The mission of Mariachi de Spectacular de Albuquerque is to promote culture, arts, and excellence in art education, contributing to the cultural understanding, pride, and appreciation of Mariachi music in New Mexico and beyond. Mariachi Spectacular fulfills it’s mission through offering cultural arts and educational events that attract a diverse group of student performers and participants, bringing in master musicians from around the state, country, and the world to support local education and arts development, and celebrating a very American form of folk art.

Horizons Albuquerque

Since our inception in 2014, Horizons Albuquerque has grown from serving 48 public school students and their families to over 180, adding a grade level each year. Students from under-resourced communities often fall behind academically and may lack the mentorship and support they need to stay in school and succeed in their future endeavors. Highly qualified licensed teachers who work in various local school settings join Horizons Albuquerque in the summer, resulting in a 5-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio. Our year-round inclusive services reach our diverse community of students and their families from 40+ schools.

Literacy Volunteers of Santa Fe

An essential need in our community is to combat illiteracy, which can risk gaining and maintaining employment, acquiring financial security, obtaining citizenship, communicating and understanding health needs, and caring for families. We target adults with speaking, reading, writing, and/or math skills below the 6th-grade level. Our “Workplace Tutoring Program” volunteer tutors go to hotels, restaurants, animal shelters, salons, and other businesses to teach small groups of employees literacy skills that will support them at work. Literate employees are more likely to be employed full-time, secure benefits, negotiate with management, be promoted, and earn more.

Taos Center Support Services (TCSS)

There are no clinical oncology services in Taos County. This creates a travel burden and health inequity for our rural residents with cancer. Our goal is to provide support for these residents. Taos Center Support Services offer non-clinical support - linking people experiencing cancer with trusted local businesses to help meet basic needs, ease stress, and promote healing. Our services include assistance with food, transportation, lodging, grief and loss counselling for families, massage, acupuncture, and other complementary alternative treatments.

Kindred Spirits Animal Sanctuary

Since 2022, Kindred Spirits Animal Sanctuary has provided eldercare and hospice care for dogs, horses and various poultry on 5 rural acres south of Santa Fe. Many animal-related services, from veterinary offices to pet rescues and animal sanctuaries, have struggled to maintain adequate staffing post Covid-19 years. For over 5 years, our assistant manager has delivered the necessary administrative and general management support. The Assistant Manager position is now more critical than ever. We want to sustain this necessary position to help offset the responsibilities of the Executive Director.
